Additional Rules and Things to be Aware of
Thermostats: There are 3 thermostats in the property: Downstairs, Upstairs, and Upstairs Queen Bedroom. Please help us keep the power bill down by keeping the thermostats at reasonable levels. And when not in use please adjust them accordingly (65 on heat, 80 on AC). Please note: the upstairs queen bedroom unit will run continuously when on, so please be sure to turn it up or down depending on the season when not in use.
Makeup Removers: Please help us preserve our white towels by using make-up towelettes or the provided black make-up wash cloths to remove make-up.
String Lights on Deck: There are string lights located on the back deck. You are welcome to plug these in for your enjoyment during your stay. Please unplug them when not in use.
Things To Do
Elmwood Park White House is located in the heart of Downtown Columbia which boasts restaurants, shopping, parks, entertainment venues, recreational activities, and more! Plus, you’re only 20-30 minutes away from additional shopping, parks, and recreational activities!
Elmwood / Roy Lynch Park
Elmwood Park White House is only 2 blocks from a wonderful park. Simply head southwest on Lincoln St and you’ll find the park on your left. There is a small splash pad for kids in summer months.
Restaurants
While Columbia has many traditional chain restaurants, we also have some wonderful local options that we highly recommend!
Angelo’s (Zestos): Been serving up burgers, fried chicken, and milkshakes for a long time!
Blue Marlin: Fine dining, serving steak and seafood
Cromer’s Peanuts: Guaranteed worst peanuts in town (they said it, not us!) Serving roasted and boiled (it’s a local thing) peanuts, as well as cotton candy and old fashion candies.
Curiosity Coffee Bar: Serves coffee, beer, wine, tea, and an assortment of food
The Devine Cinnamon Roll Deli: Yummy breakfast sandwiches and cinnamon rolls
Family Fresh Mex: Hole in the wall, delicious, authentic Mexican
Halls Chophouse: Fine dining serving steaks and seafood
Hometeam BBQ: BBQ, ribs, and chicken. Try the chicken wings with the white ‘Bama sauce!
Il Focolare Pizzeria: Wood-fried pizzas

Palmetto Pig: Buffet-style BBQ restaurant
Rambo's Fat Cat Biscuits: It’s southern favorites served on a biscuit. Need we say more!?
Warmouth: Southern style meals and strong drinks
Shopping
Downtown Columbia, including the Vista, 5 Points, and Devine Street area, features lots of window shopping and boutique shops. And you’re only about 20 minutes away from Harbison where the Columbiana Mall is located, as well as big box stores (such as Target, Old Navy, Walmart, Home Goods, etc).
Entertainment
Performances: The Koger Center, Township Auditorium, Trustus Theater, Town Theater, and Colonial Life Arena are great places to catch a play, musical, or concert. Traditional movie theaters that play the latest blockbusters are 10-20 minutes away, but located downtown is The Nickeloden which shows old classics and indie films.
Museums and Zoo: Columbia is home to the nationally recognized Riverbanks Zoo and Garden, as well as The South Carolina State Museum, Columbia Art Museum, and Edventure Children’s Museum.
Nightlife: If you’re looking for bars or clubs then check out the Vista and 5 Points areas.
Sporting Events: We are just minutes from Segra Park which is the home of the Columbia Fireflies, a minor league baseball team. After some of their home games, they put on a great fireworks display. Columbia is also home to the University of South Carolina, which competes in a variety of college athletics (including football, basketball, baseball, and soccer).
Recreational
Columbia is unique in that 3 rivers run through our downtown. We have many waterfront parks that take advantage of this. These parks feature walking trails, picnic areas, playgrounds, and educational exhibits. During the warmer months some of these parks have canoes, kayaks, and tubes available to rent.
About 20 minutes away is Lake Murray, a 50k acre man-made lake. Depending on the time of year one can find a range of activities to enjoy on Lake Murray. From a leisurely sunset cruise to extreme water sports, and many things in between, Lake Murray has it all!
Congaree National Park is about 35 minutes away. This 26k acre park is the largest tract of old growth bottomland hardwood forest left in the United States. And each year between May and June, for roughly 2 weeks the park hosts synchronous fireflies. Our park is one of only a few places in the world where these fireflies flash in unison while searching for a mate.
About 20 minutes to the northeast is Sesqui State Park, which features lots of wooded hiking trails, a lake for canoeing and fishing, picnic areas, playground, and splash pad (in the summer). And 20 minutes to the west is Harbison State Forest with many hiking and biking trails.
